A LOCAL Hawkesbury childcare centre is in the running to take out two small business awards.
Oakville Preschool Learning Centre has been shortlisted in the Health and Wellbeing Business of the Year, and Customer Service Experience of the Year categories, at the Optus My Business Awards 2016.
The Awards are hosted by My Business, an Australia-wide publication tailored to the small business community.
Elizabeth Sheridan, licensee at Oakville Preschool said she was humbled but also very proud of the nominations.
“These awards are a fantastic accomplishment. I am very proud of my service and my staff. The team is very excited,” she told the Gazette.
Oakville Preschool Learning Centre offers care and education for children aged two to five years old.
“In a nut shell we are unique,” said Ms Sheridan, who purchased the business in 1997.
“We offer a full agricultural program from raising animals where the children are responsible for their wellbeing, a full learning garden and worm farm.
“We offer an award-winning prep program which offers a second language, additional staff than legally required, an environment of exceptional standards and most importantly our commitment to community health through community consultation and addressing concerns where able.
The Preschool also offers peer support programs, positive mental health programs and animal therapy.
The Optus My Business Awards covers 24 categories, recognising individual and business excellence across a diverse range of industries and locations.
Winners in the individual categories will automatically be shortlisted for the My Business – Business of the Year Award.
Category winners will be announced at a black tie gala event on Friday, November 18, at Four Points by Sheraton in Sydney.
