EASTERN Creek Public School kicked off its week-long 150th birthday celebrations with a fete on Saturday.
Hundreds of people including past and present students and staff streamed into the school grounds for an action-packed day.
The fete included a host of rides including a Ferris Wheel, dodge ‘em cars and a giant slide, while students entertained revellers with several dance performances.
Assistant principal Wesley Chia said the fete was a great way to begin the school’s commemoration of its history.
“To bring up the 150th birthday is a huge achievement for the school,” he said.
“It’s not only a celebration for the school, it’s a big occasion for the whole community.
“Many people who live in the area went to school here so it brings back a lot of fond memories.”
Mr Chia said the celebrations would continue on Wednesday when the school holds a special birthday assembly.
He said the school’s oldest living former student would be on hand to cut the birthday cake.
