Hawkesbury water ski team Stinga finished third in the annual Grafton Bridge to Bridge over the weekend.
The local blokes finished behind second placed team Merc Force and the formidable team from Dubbo, Superman, who have won the event for the past four years.
One of the most demanding events on the Australian ski racing calendar, the Grafton Bridge to Bridge saw teams compete a 108 kilometer endurance test from the banks of the Crown Hotel to Harwood and back.
After a brisk breeze peppered events on the Saturday, the main race on Sunday could not have been run under more ideal conditions. Sunny skies and glassy water set the scene for the day, and it was business as usual for team Superman who needed no invitation to hit the gas from the go.
Local boys Stinga finished only seconds behind the winners however in a time of 37 minutes 38 seconds.
Winners Superman finished in a time of 36 minutes 23 seconds followed by Merc Force in 36 minutes 35 seconds.
