You’ve got until midnight on September 22 to get teh earlybird rate for a weekend pass to the glorious gardens of Mount Wilson.
The Mt Wilson/Mt Irvine Rural Fire Brigade is holding the event as a fundraiser for the brigade, so you can wallow in beauty for a good cause, on the weekend of September 24-25.
Brigade captain Beth Raines said their role extended beyond firefighting to search and rescue as well, so the cover charge for the weekend “helps us help others".
Open gardens include Bisley, Breenhold, Merry Garth, Nooroo, Sefton Cottage and Withycombej. Some of these are only rarely open to the public.
An all-garden pass for the weekend is $25 if you book by September 22, at www.trybooking.com/206363. Exchange your website ticket for a wristband at the festival for speedy entry to the gardens.
If you don’t book beforehand, an all-garden pass is $30 on the day or single entry at the garden gate is $10 (cash only). Children under 12 free. Gardens will be open 10am to 4pm.
There will also be an Art Exhibition and Prize in the Mt Wilson Village Hall, with photography and paintings for sale inspired by the area, its gardens and byways, landscape and adventure. The exhibition will also showcase locally-made metal garden art. The exhibition will be open 10am to 4pm. Gold coin entry.
You can also join a guided wildflower walk with panoramic views, a glimpse into Aboriginal occupation of the land, fascinating rock formations and beautiful spring wildflowers.Enjoy an included Devonshire morning tea in the bush.
There will also be an Ikebana demonstration and a landscape photography exhibition.
Foodwise, homecooked items and a sausage sizzle will be available both days (cash only).
Organisers ask visitors to plan ahead as there are no ATMs or petrol stations at Mt Wilson or Mt Irvine.
