FORMER Hawkesbury Cricket Club player John Hastings turned in a fine performance for Australia, taking six wickets in a One Day International thumping of Sri Lanka.
Hastings was easily the pick of the Australian attack, which tore apart Sri Lanka.
The Australian batsmen easily chased down Sri Lanka’s total of 212 in just 31 overs.
Hastings first struck in the sixth over, claiming number three bat Kusal Mendis for just one run.
Hastings also cleaned up Sri Lanka’s tail, taking three of the four lower order batsmen.
Hastings played in an earlier match in the series, also taking two wickets.
There are three remaining ODIs against Sri Lanka in this series, which concludes on September 9.
later this month the Australian team also takes on Ireland in an ODI on September 27, before playing a five day ODI series against South Africa running from September 30 until October 12.
