Attention all pop culture devotees, Oz Comic-Con is little more than a week away.
The annual event, which is fest-becoming a formidable rival to the well-established and hugely successful Supanova conventions, will be held at Sydney Exhibition Centre, Glebe Island on September 10 and 11.
Sticking to a similar format as its bigger brother, Oz Comic-Con features all things gloriously geeky, collectible and cool.
There will be a host of celebrity guests from the worlds of cinema, comics, literature, gaming and anime, and of course there will be trade stalls aplenty offering all manner of treasures.
This year’s line-up of guests is nothing short of astounding.
Heading up the famous faces will be legendary horror actor Robert Englund, the man who brought Wes Craven’s menacing Freddy Krueger to life on the big screen in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise.
He will be joined by the likes of Daniel Portman (Game Of Thrones), Mitch Pileggi (X-Files, Stargate:Atlantis), Maggie Roswell (The Simpsons: Maude Flanders), Joe Flannigan (Stargate: Atlantis) and Karl Urban (Star Trek, Dredd).
Of course Oz Comic-Con is far more than just about the celebrities, it’s also packed with sensational activities, special features and unique retailers selling must-have geeky goodies.
This year the expo will feature Artist’s Alley, the place to meet the creators behind some of their favourite comic heros; there will be Cosplay Central for all things dressing up; and there will also be a Fashion Show offering aspirant designers an outlet to show off their talents.
There will also be a dedicated Anime Station, offering visitors the chance to put their feet up and relax in the Manga library or take in an anime flick in the screening room.
A Family Activity Room will offer fun for parents and their youngsters with a range of activities throughout the event.
Of course this is only a brief taste of what’s on offer over the weekend.
