A SEA of blue turned out to support Hawkesbury Baseball Club’s Trish Whatson at Bensons Lane on Sunday.
Whatson’s husband Peter was a long time member of the club and died in 2015 after a battle with cancer.
Whatson has started raising money for the Melanoma Institute Australia, and on Sunday the club helped her out.
“We had an amazing turn out. Pete would've been humbled to see the support,” she said.
“We have played two winters seasons since losing Pete, these guys and girls couldn't have been more supportive through this trying time. It's more like a family than a club. You don't get that everywhere.”
Hawkesbury’s three major league teams played on Sunday at the grounds, and every player wore a special jersey with 69, Pete’s number, on their backs.
Whatson said the club auctioned off 160 jerseys on the weekend and had so far raised $6400.
She encouraged people to have their skin checked.
