LOOKING to buy a new car? Why not buy it locally and help raise funds for six-year-old Levi Douglass and his family?
Or, you can make donations via the family’s crowdfunding page: every little bit is welcome to help Levi’s parents, Allison and Josh, cover the latest round of brain tumour treatment that could save their son’s life.
Levi suffers from craniopharyngioma, and has already undergone a number of operations to ‘debulk’ the tumour, which is wrapped around his pituitary gland.
Now, the family is hoping to raise in excess of $6,000 to help cover six weeks of targetted radiotherapy at Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick.
CarNet Western Sydney, based in McGraths Hill, has come onboard, announcing it will donate $100 from the sale of every fixed price vehicle during September to Levi and his family.
They will also donate $50 (through their finance team, CP Money) for every finance deal they sign during the month of September.
Managing director, Keith McCulloch, said he was compelled to help the Douglass family after hearing about Levi’s cause from one of his employees.
“He has already had four major operations, life saving operations, operations on his brain … operations that cannot even take away this horrible thing, this thing that has hardened, crystalised, and glued itself to his brain,” said Mr McCulloch.
“We have been told now, that he must have radiation, that’s the next step - we don’t know what will come after.
“Little Levi has already become legally blind, having lost 60 per cent of his eyesight, he now uses a cane but is very aware of the stares and whispers.
“All I know is, this family, Levi, his brother Cailan, his father Josh and his mum Allison need to catch a break.
“They need to be able to do what must be done without fear, or worry of where the money will come from, they need to know they can and will be able to pay for anything that pops up, from the toll charges for the travel to and from the hospital each day, the fuel, the horrendous hospital parking fees.”
CarNet Western Sydney will also be holding a free sausage sizzle every weekend for the month of September, and will have a donation tin for those who wish to make a donation but don’t necessarily want to buy a car.
Outright donations can also be made to the family - visit the crowdfunding site mycause.com.au and search for Levi Douglass.
