Richmond Riding for the Disabled have received a huge funding boost after hosting their first annual Horsepower Day at their facility on Sunday.
Richmond RDA president Ian Travers said the day was a massive success raising $5000 to go towards a shelter they plan to build over their riding arena.
The Horsepower Day brought together luxury cars both modern and antique, musical entertainment, stalls, and amusement for the kids.
Richmond Fire and Rescue and Windsor Police were also present with trucks and cars to help celebrate the day.
“What can I say I am gobsmacked at the amazing support for the Horsepower charity day,” Mr Travers said.
“Thank you all so much for an amazing day with an amazing team of people that make Richmond RDA such a great success and a great place to be.”
Mr Travers said they need around $30,000 to build the shelter over the riding arena to help shield the riders and horses from the sun on warm days.
“We usually stop riding when the temperatures reach around 37 degrees as some of our riders suffer epilepsy which can be made worse in the heat,” Mr Travers said.
“At present there isn’t any shade over the ramp where the riders wait to ride the horses so we’re looking to build a shelter over the ramp for the riders and horses.”
Mr Travers said they would love to hear from builders or suppliers who may be able to assist them in building the shelter.
