Hawkesbury Race Club is gearing up for what they hope will be another successful charity race day this Sunday, for the Turf Industry Race Meet.
The day aims to raise much needed money for Peppercorn services, as-well-as Hogs for the Homeless and Father Chris Riley's Youth off the Streets.
Hawkesbury Race Club Marketing Manager, Vivienne Leggett said the race day had previously supported the Hawkesbury Living Cancer Trust, but the club was now focused on helping those services that could assist patients using the facility to get to and from treatments.
“Peppercorn Services is an associate service that can help transport patients for treatments,” Ms Leggett said.
“Each year our charity meets raise more and more money. In the past the events have raised $40,000. Now we hoping to raise between $100,000 and $120,000 for charity.”
Ms Leggett said the race day will be packed full of fun for the whole family to enjoy, with lots of free giveaways including NRL passes to see the Panthers round 22 clash against the Roosters.
A special “kid’s corner” is expected to be a treat for smaller visitors. There, kids can have their faces painted, take part in colouring activities, and walk away with one of 400 activity bags.
They will also have the chance to meet the Hamburglar, who will be handing out McDonalds vouchers.
The Race Club has plenty of picnic areas and dining facilities, ideal for the whole family.
Gates open at 11am.
