THE Lions Club of Windsor and McGraths Hill Bunnings staff came together to present William ‘Bill’ Slee with a cheque for $3,000 to help pay for his upcoming cancer treatment.
Money was generously donated from his friends at Bunnings and a caring public, during a BBQ fundraiser at the McGraths Hill store on Sunday, June 26.
Mr Slee is in his 50s and has been battling cancer for the past two years.
Club secretary, Vera Miller, wanted to thank everyone who generously donated.
“A special thank you to, Kerrie, who come in on her day off from working at Bunnings and stayed all day, to help the hard working volunteers of Windsor Lions Club to make it a very successful day,” she said.
“We wish Bill all the very best for his Chemotherapy treatment.”
Mr Slee posted the following ‘thankyou’ message on Facebook:
“I would like to give a big thankyou to Michael Durham and The Lions Club of Windsor, Bunnings McGraths Hill and all team members, for all their time, effort and promotion of the BBQ Fundraiser on Sunday, which was a great success, raising $3000 which is greatly appreciated, also many thanks to the people of the Hawkesbury and surrounds for your generosity and making it such great and uplifting day, for without your support the day wouldn’t have been possible.”
Mr Durham is Club president and has known and worked with Bill for over 10 years.
