STORM water infrastructure at Pitt Town has edged closer to fruition after Hawkesbury Council voted to publicly display a plan for developer contributions to the project.
At Council’s June 28 meeting, the nine present councillors unanimously voted to display the section 64 contribution plan by Johnson Property Group for 28 days.
During that time the plan will be open for public comment, and after it has been displayed, a vote will take place to finalise the plan.
Mayor Kim Ford said it was about time this had happened.
“I think we need to get this out into exhibition because if we don't it is only going to push the project back further,” he said.
“We do need to alleviate the people of Pitt Town. This has been going on for 25 years and the vast number of residents are probably sick of living in a construction zone.”
Bryan Garland from Johnson Property Group spoke at the meeting and said the company was committed to building the storm water infrastructure.
“Johnson Property Group will deliver the storm water facility that Council requires,” he said.
“As part of developing the land, JPG will develop a flood evacuation route through the land.
“The flood evacuation route is perhaps more important than the storm water infrastructure.
“The delay in developing the property is holding up the deliver of important infrastructure.”
The estimated cost of the project according to the Council business paper is nearly $5.5 million.
