A host of stars will take to the Rooty Hill RSL stage on Thursday, July 14, to honour Australian country music icon Chad Morgan.
Multiple Golden Guitar winners Luke O’Shea, Drew McAlister and Allan Caswell will be joined by Pat Drummond, Dianne Lindsay and Peter Simpson and many more to help raise funds to have a bronze statue of Morgan cast.
Dubbed the clown prince of country music by Slim Dusty, Morgan is considered a one-off original in the world of Australian music.
Armed only with a guitar, great timing and hilarious songs, he has been a favourite for generations of people all over the country.
Once created, the bronze bust will go on display at Australian country music capitol, Tamworth, alongside effigies of fellow legends including Buddy Williams, Tex Morton, Jimmy Little, Gordon Parsons, Barry Thornton, Shirley Thoms and Reg Lindsay.
Like many charity concerts, there will be a number of surprise guests donating their time, but arguably, the star performer on the evening will be Chad Morgan himself.
The “Sheik of Scrubby Creek” will close the show, as according to mate Caswell, “no one wants or is capable of following him”.
Tickets for the show cost $20 per person and will kick off at 7.30pm in the Waratah Room.
Bookings: 9625 5500 or online.
