HAWKESBURY Triathlon Club hosted its second Chris Horwood Memorial Duathlon at the weekend.
Chris Horwood was an integral member of the club, who died of a heart attack, and the club decided to honour him by naming a race in his honour.
Ammon Chesworth was the fastest man on the weekend, coming in at a time of 1:06:40, while Amanda Jones was the fastest of the women with a time of 1:19:57.
With winter settling in, the club stays clear of the Hawkesbury River, and runs duathlons, rather than triathlons.
The race consisted of a 2.5-kilometre run from Deerubbin Park to the Windsor Bridge and back, a 10-kiloemtre bike ride around the Lowlands, before twice repeating the original run.
Club vice-president Geoff Luscombe said Horwood was an avid runner, but never one for triathlons.
He said Horwood ran from Alice Springs to Uluru at one stage in his life, and from North Richmond to Bredbo, NSW on another run.
