RED Nose Day celebrations at Richmond High School on Friday, June 10 included a police helicopter flyover, games, a BBQ and a talent show.
The school is a big supporter of the annual Red Nose Day, which promotes research and funding for SIDS and Kids NSW - an organisation that supports families affected by Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and educates new parents on safe sleeping routines.
“Over the past three decades, Richmond High School has raised more than $350,000 to support SIDS and kids. In 2015 the school, with the help of the wider community raised $10,000 and this year we are hoping to match this total,” Richmond High School teacher and SRC coordinator, Lolita Garcia, told the Gazette.
Red Nose Day kicked off with all the students gathering on the back field and making a giant shape, and a Police Air wing helicopter with a painted red nose flying over and taking photos.
Afterwards, students and teachers faced-off in a range of teacher-versus-student games, everyone enjoyed a BBQ and students participated in a talent show-style concert.
“All students pay to enjoy these activities, with all money raised going towards SIDS and KIDS NSW Red Nose Day,” said Ms Garcia.
Richmond High students will be selling Red Nose Day merchandise in Richmond Marketplace, Richmond Mall, Windsor Riverview and Penrith Plaza in the week leading up to June 24, which is the official Red Nose Day.
The school is also hosting a primary school-aged colouring competition to raise further funds for the cause, and any donations for prizes would be greatly appreciated. Contact Ms Garcia on 4578 1177 (extension 216).
