OIL paintings from local artist, Annmaree Mitchell, will adorn the walls at Kurrajong’s Sassafras Creek Cafe from Friday, June 17 until Friday, July 29.
The body of work, called Reflections, consists of a number of oil paintings depicting various scenes from different areas around the Hawkesbury region.
Ms Mitchell resides in Kurrajong Village with her husband and three children. She grew up in the city and now revels in the nature and open spaces of her new Hawkesbury home.
“Mum and Dad packed us all up nearly every weekend and took us on an array of country discovery outings, picnics and occasional holidays,” she said.
“I’ve always been interested in art and, in particular, landscapes, because I never tire of the beauty that surrounds me and I love to reproduce that on canvas.
Coming from an arts and crafts background, Ms Mitchell honed her painting skills with the help of local Richmond artist, Derdrie Morrison.
This will be Ms Mitchell’s first solo exhibition, and a free launch event will take place at Sassafras – which is located at 83 Old Bells Line Of Rd – on Sunday, June 19, from 3pm until 5pm.
