CHECK out blues duo Doggn It at Riverside Oaks at Cattai on Sunday, May 29.
Held on the terrace of the club overlooking panoramic views of the golf course from midday, it’s a wonderful lazy afternoon, and you can see the ’roos come out to feed around 4pm.
The show is three hours, and includes some really old blues such as When the Levee breaks as well as Led Zeppelin and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Doggn It are Graeme Druce on guitar, resonator, Weisenborn, banjo, and ukulele, and Hawkesbury resident John Cupit on harmonica, didgeridoo, percussion, and acoustic guitar and resonator.
John said “we are getting some really emotional responses to the show, and having an absolute ball”.
While covering blues artists like George “Harmonica” Smith and Doug Macleod they also create their own unique Australian narratives that range from working the land by hand, and waking up in the Australian bush, the history of Sydney’s foreshore, to more general issues such as the global financial crisis or the agony of unrequited love.
The Doggn it boys were semi-finalists in the Memphis International Blues Challenge in 2013. In 2015 they played Australian festivals including, Thredbo, Goulburn, Kiama, Blues on Broad Beach, The Great Southern Blues festival at Narooma, and the Sydney Blues Festival.
Doggn it have a new CD in production, always adding new flavours to the Australian Blues stew.
There is a restaurant at the club if you want to include lunch in your afternoon.
