THE next generation of terrific tumblers coming from Windsor’s Kachan School of Tumbling and Performance stepped up in April at the Gymnastics NSW Senior State Championships.
The school has a number of very talented tumblers, who competed internationally last season, and while they recover, some of the younger tumblers at the school have stepped up to make their mark.
Some had been to the state championships before, but many had not, and their coach, Dzmitry Kachan said they held their own, as 13 tumblers were selected to go to nationals this year.
“We are very proud. This year it is a little different because all the kids who went to worlds are taking it easy this year to recover from injuries,” he said.
“So it is a new generation of kids in the team. It is good to see new members going to the nationals for the first time.”
Kachan said a number of the team had potential to represent Australia in the future.
He said the young ones in particular are using this year to practise new moves, without added pressure of performing at a high level competition.
“We are giving them a chance to try new stuff. It is easier to try new stuff right now,” he said.
