The 40th anniversary of Grose View Public School will serve as the catalyst for a mini reunion of former students and staff.
To mark the milestone, the school’s Parents and Citizens Association has organised a range of events and wants the entire community to get involved.
The first official events will be the 40th Anniversary Winter Ball, which will be held at Hawkesbury Race Club on Saturday, May 28.
Association president, and former Grose View student, Angela Maguire, said the ball was the ideal excuse for a get together of past students and staff.
“We’ve formed a special 40th anniversary Facebook group to let as many people know as possible,” she said.
“We’re asking anyone with a connection to the school, past or present, to spread the word to their networks.”
As well as bodies to fill the room, the group are also hoping to gather copies of old pictures and other memorabilia to display on the night.
Grose View Public School was formed in 1976 when two smaller schools, Grose Vale and Grose Wold, combined.
The celebrations will continue on Saturday, September 3, with the school’s spring fair – this year rebranded as its 40th Anniversary Spring Carnival.
“We also have a trivia night and auction planned for some time in October,” Ms Maguire said.
“Again, we’re hoping to see as many past students and staff come along to test their wits in support of the school.”
The Association is calling on local businesses to sponsor the Spring Carnival as well as donate goods or services for the winter ball and trivia night.
