THE Lowlands Wanderers gave up a goal with 12 minutes to go in their Premier League match against Glenmore Park to go down 2-1.
It was a tight contest, with both coaches admitting neither side really had the better of the other after the game.
Lowlands co-coach Vic Papadimitriou said his team had plenty of chances to take the win, but failed to capitalise on their opportunities.
The team was moved into the Nepean Football Association’s top league for this season, and while adamant the team has never been outclassed, the lack of experience at the top level has shown according to Papadimitriou.
“We were disappointed with the result because the boys put in a great level of effort,” he said.
“At this level the teams do take their opportunities and we have to learn how to.”
Papadimitriou said defender Brendon Diaz had a great game at the back.
“His communication and ball distribution from the back excellent,” he said.
“We gave him a new position this year and he is playing in one of the crucial positions at the back and he is doing it with flying colours.”
The loss to Glenmore Park was the fourth of the season for the Wanderers, however, there are definitely bright spots.
Young striker Hayden Lane is one of those according to Papadimitriou.
Lane scored two goals at home a few weeks ago, and scored another at the weekend to equalise in the second half against Gelnmore Park.
“He has been the real success story for us this season. He has settled in beautifully and he has been scoring goals,” he said.
