SEVEN non-profit organisations and community groups are sharing in a $25,000 grant from telecommunications provider, Southern Phone.
Mayor Kim Ford and Southern Phone managing director, Mark Warren announced the funding recipients last Thursday, February 4 at Council Chambers, Windsor.
The community groups to benefit are:
- Peppercorn Services Inc - $5000 for upgrading ageing technology.
* Hawkesbury Community Outreach Services Inc - $1500 for outreach service and care packs.
* Hobartville Long Day Preschool - $1968 for play unit sails.
* Hawkesbury Community Outreach Services Incorporated - $3500 for Mad Mob Aboriginal Cultural Art Group.
* Glossodia Community Information and Neighbourhood centre Inc - $3307 for Glossodia Community Centre Audio Visual Enhancement.
* LINCS Volunteer Scheme Incorporated - $4725 for acknowledgement of volunteers.
* North Richmond Community Centre - $5500 for new furniture and furnishings.
A public company, Southern Phone is owned equally by 41 councils, including Hawkesbury.
Since Southern Phone started handing out community grants, more than $2 million has been distributed between groups in the councils’ areas.
