A 14-year-old boy has received serious lacerations to his torso and hip following a boating incident at South Maroota on Sunday.
At about 10am the young man was preparing to wake board with family members when he fell off the boat he was on, went underneath the vessel and was struck by the propeller on the left side of his upper torso and his right hip.
Family members and ski park staff immediately provided first aid which was taken over by Ambulance Paramedics and the Medical Team of the Air Ambulance.
The boy was flown to the Westmead Childrens Hospital in a stable condition where he underwent emergency surgery.
The boy is believed to be recovering well.
