Small crowds stood watching in Windsor Street, Richmond at lunchtime Tuesday as old cars manoeuvred into position, ladders came and went outside the old courthouse and people in high-viz told the crowd to keep to the footpaths.
A woman could be seen pushing an old pram outside the old courthouse, and the front window of Bennett’s nearest the corner had been all boarded up.
Near Westpac Bank Mel Gibson could be seen near the cameras and a woman in the crowd yelled “Hey Mel, give us a wave!” and he turned round and obliged while the phones clicked and whirred.
Cars sat idling as another scene was about to be filmed in Mel Gibson’s film ‘Hacksaw Ridge’ which has seen the intersection of Windsor Street and West Market Street transformed into 1941 Arkansas, complete with fire hydrants.
When the scene rolled, Anna Russell was there to capture it. See video.
