Family and generosity have always been priorities for the Hemsworth brothers.
Liam Hemsworth, star of The Hunger Games, has revealed in a recent interview with Britain's Independent the generosity of his older brother, Chris.
After finding success in Hollywood through the role of Thor in the film of the same name, Chris Hemsworth gave back to his family by paying off all of their debts.
Liam recalled the day when Chris called his father, telling him to check his bank account.
"He [his father] called my brother Chris back and said: 'I don't know how to feel. Since I left home I have had debts and I thought I'd be paying them off until I died and have this weight hanging over me, and now to have them completely cleared,' " he said.
Following the generous nature of his brother, Liam has become the ambassador for the Australian Childhood Foundation.
"If you want to be a good person who adds to society, you have responsibility. That is something I take very seriously," he said.
Liam was speaking as part of promotion for The Dressmaker, a breakaway role from The Hunger Games series.
The Dressmaker and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 are both out now.
Chris' latest film, Ron Howard's whaling epic In the Heart of the Sea, opens on December 11.
