Two wins for locals on hot race day
Hawkesbury trainers Mitch Newman and Scott Singleton had winners on a very hot Hawkesbury race day on Friday.
The mercury soared above 40 degrees on Friday, and as a result, the races were moved back a few hours.
Newman’s Luceo Non Uro won the first race of the day by a length.
It was the first race win of the three-year-old gelding’s career, and followed up a second place in its previous start.
Singleton’s Vanishka won its third race from 10 starts, after starting as the second favourite.
The four-year-old mare last won in June, before finishing up that preparation with two sixth place finishes.
The 1000-metre handicap was the first race of this preparation for Vanishka.
