The Hercules plane sporting a 4.6-metre White Ribbon on its tail will take off from Richmond and buzz Blacktown Workers Club on Monday morning, November 23 to mark White Ribbon week.
Air Commodore Richard Lennon, Commander of Air Mobility Group at RAAF Base Richmond, said the flypast was one of several Air Force initiatives to support White Ribbon Australia.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to bring the public’s attention to a very serious social issue that affects Australia today,” Air Commodore Lennon said.
“Violence against women – whether it occurs in or beyond the workplace – impacts on the health and safety of women at work, their wellbeing, and their productivity,” Air Commodore Lennon said.
Flypasts such as this are opportunities to encourage communities to have a conversation about, or reflect on, their attitudes towards male-led violence against women.”
The Blacktown Workers Club, as well as Air Force’s Air Mobility Group, has recently been awarded White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation.
The plane won’t go below 300 metres altitude above ground
