Rodger Davis conceded his Australian PGA Senior Championship win might have been one of his last chances.
The 64-year-old claimed the title on Saturday, after a playoff round against Peter Senior and Mike Harwood at the Richmond Golf Club.
Davis said the playoff round in particular was very enjoyable and brought back the feelings of being a younger player on the tour.
“It was not bad for an old fella. I loved it, I loved every bit,” he said.
“It reminded me of the old days when I was younger.
“As you get older, I am 64, you sort of don't get into too many positions these days where you can really get involved with the pressure of an event.
“Once that pressure starts building you just enjoy it. It is just a fantastic feeling.”
Davis said the win was made all the more sweeter, because he realised he might not have many more chances to win the event.
“My time was running out [to win this event]. This was probably the best opportunity I've had,” he said.
“I am shorter off the tee, and I am not as fine tuned as I used to be.
“You can try to play the way you used to and you get totally frustrated that you can't.
“Your body shape changes slowly [as you age]. In some ways you just have to accept you are not going to have to play the shots you used to.”
Davis said the event itself was a lot of fun, and enjoyed walking the course with the spectators.
Davis said he was impressed with the condition of the course at the Richmond Golf Club.
“Richmond's course is improving every year. it isn't just because I won the tournament that I said that,” he said.
“I said it before I started, Mark Williams the green keeper is doing a wonderful job there.”
