"Bring it on, Jordan." That would be Marc Leishman's mindset towards a potential Presidents Cup grudge match with Jordan Spieth, according to his coach Denis McDade.
That return bout could come at the 100th edition of the Australian Open next month.
Fairfax Media has reported that Golf Australia is in negotiations with Leishman's team to bring the Victorian back to Australia for the summer's flagship event at The Australian Golf Club.
If it were to happen, the Leishman-versus-Spieth storyline has the potential to carry the marquee.
Adam Scott is playing, too, but there is now history between Leishman and the American that is an organiser's dream.
And the aggressive right-hander from Warrnambool has shown he is not only in the same league as the world No.1, he can beat him man to man, even under extreme pressure.
Leishman upstaged golf's hottest property in their singles matchplay contest on the final day of the Presidents Cup that concluded on Sunday in South Korea.
It was a shock victory that almost delivered the International team a rare triumph. In fact, Spieth genuinely feared that his failure had cost his team.
"I should have won this for this team. Marc played great golf, I had to hand it to him," the FedEx Cup champion said in the aftermath.
Anyone who has heard him speak or watched him play knows how driven the 22-year-old is to take over the golfing world, so it is not hyperbole to suggest that defending his Australian Open crown will not be the only thing on Spieth's mind on his mission Down Under.
There will be nothing sinister, of course – golf fans saw the sportsmanship and grace Spieth showed Jason Day in the final round of the PGA Championship, while at the same time trying to steal the moment away from the Australian with his talent and tenacity.
We're talking about healthy competition, but certainly an event like the Australian Open offers a unique stage for the reigning US Masters and US Open champion to get even. At least somewhat.
It is not like a regular US PGA Tour event where Leishman would just be another player in a locker room filled with top-flight stars, with no increased likelihood that the two would be paired together over the weekend.
Being domestic events means that the depth of Australia's triple crown showcases are comparatively and understandably thin, and therefore the small group of headline acts, such as Spieth, Scott and co usually end up playing against each other, as much as the rest of the field.
Rory McIlroy versus Scott on the final day of the 2013 Australian Open and Scott going the distance with Ryder Cup star Ian Poulter at the 2012 Australian Masters are a couple of big-name head-to-head battles of recent years.
Should we end up getting something close to Spieth-Leishman II this summer, then McDade says Leishman won't back down.
Speaking about his player generally this week, and not specifically about a potential showdown at the Australian Open – as his presence is still unconfirmed – McDade gave an insight into the 31-year-old that doesn't always show up on TV screens.
"He comes across as a laid-back guy, but he is a fierce competitor," McDade said.
On the challenge that confronted Leishman staring down the best player on the powerful US team, McDade said Leishman would have stayed mentally rock solid.
"He just would have thought, this is Jordan Spieth, a great player and I am going to find a way to win and earn a point for my team, and he did," the coach said. "He'd never stand at the tee thinking this guy is better than me. Marc would be thinking 'if I play well I can get the job done here'."
The aggressive and clutch play Leishman produced down the stretch at the Presidents Cup captivated a big TV audience in Australia and many more checking the scores on their mobile phones.
