JOEL Brunker will, barring any setbacks, fight English boxer Josh Warrington on Saturday night. Brunker has spent two weeks in England preparing for the fight. Brunker was undefeated in his career until a loss in October last year, and since then he has struggled to find a fight. Brunker said no one in Australia would fight him, and people were not prepared to come from overseas to fight him in Australia, so he was forced to travel to England.
THE weekend’s Hawkesbury 120 ski race was postponed, with a date yet to be settled on for the rescheduled race. Ski Racing NSW were informed by Roads and Maritime Services on Wednesday afternoon that the Warragamba Dam was close to spilling. RMS and Ski Racing NSW mutually agreed it would be best to postpone the race. A date for the rescheduled race weekend has yet to be set, with Ski Racing NSW having to factor inter-state travel by a number of competitors into the equation. The race will definitely be run according to Ski Racing NSW, it is just a matter of finding a suitable time to host the weekend.
HAWKESBURY City Football Club’s under-16s team will play a semi-final match against Western NSW Mariners FC on Sunday. The under-16s finished as minor premiers in their age group in the Football NSW Men’s State League 1 competition. The under-16s are the only team from the Hawks to make the finals in the senior grades. The match will be played at Northbridge Oval at 9am.
THE Windsor Wolves will play the first week of semifinals action this weekend, and are guaranteed to play next weekend. Both the Ron Massey Cup and Sydney Shield teams finished in the top four and get a second chance, should they lose at the weekend. The Ron Massey Cup team will face a very tough challenge in top of the table Mounties, while the Sydney Shield team will play Peninsula Seagulls. The Ron Massey Cup team will play at Ringrose Oval at 4pm on Sunday, while the Sydney Shield team will play at New Era Stadium at 12pm.
