RICHMOND’S Good Food Markets will come alive with the flavours of the world this Saturday, for its International Food and Wine Festival starting from 8am.
Market organiser Vanessa Hanna said the festival would showcase a wide variety of food from around the world as well as wine and beverages from across the Hawkesbury.
Festival-goers can expect to see French, Mexican, Spanish, Dutch, Australian and Sri Lankan cuisine, and stalls from Hillbilly Cider, Canonbah Wines, Bell River Estate Winery, Bull Ridge Estate Winery and more. In total Ms Hanna expects there to be between 30 and 40 stalls for visitors to enjoy, as well as jazz music to complete the festival atmosphere.
“We would love the community to come and try all that we have on offer,” Ms Hanna said.
“We have heaps of stalls, all with something unique, local, seasonal and delicious.
“All of our regular stallholders will be at the market too, as well as a few special stalls such as Paddock to Plate and Sydney Salt Co.”
Richmond Good Food Market is held each Saturday from 7am to 1pm in Richmond Park and is a place for local farmers and quality food producers to showcase their wares and interact with the community.
Ms Hanna said the markets, which began last year, give Hawkesbury residents and visitors to the area the opportunity to sample and support local produce.
“When you buy local produce, you are directly supporting the local economy,” Ms Hanna said.
“Rather than putting money into the hands of the ‘big guys’, wouldn’t you prefer to support Hawkesbury locals?
“By doing so, you’ll be pumping cash straight into the pockets of your local neighbours and citizens of our region; and they, in turn, will be able to pump that cash back into our local economy.”
The International Food and Wine Festival will run from 8am-2pm in Richmond Park.
