Last week, director Colin Trevorrow was trashed by unhappy Stars Wars fans after it was announced he would direct Episode IX.
This week, he's in hot water for implying female directors in Hollywood aren't given big budget film jobs because they don't want them.
The Jurassic World director was asked by a fan on Twitter to weigh into the debate about women in Hollywood, and received a barrage of abuse for his answer.
"I want to believe that a filmmaker with both the desire and ability to make a studio blockbuster will be given an opportunity to make their case," he said.
"I stress desire because I honestly think that's a part of the issue.
"Many of the top female directors in our industry are not interested in doing a piece of studio business for its own sake.
"These filmmakers have clear voices and stories to tell that don't necessarily involve superheros or spaceships or dinosaurs," he wrote.

His response was blasted by several female directors who told Trevorrow he was naive in thinking they didn't want bigger opportunities.
Hysteria director Tanya Wexler told Trevorrow she would "kill to make a blockbuster", while actress Jamie King also said it was about lack of opportunity.
Trevorrow apologised later, saying he believed there was an imbalance in the movie industry that needed to change.
Last week, angry Star Wars flooded social media after it was announced the 38-year-old would direct 2019's Episode IX.
"Well this just ruined my whole life," one fan wrote on Instagram.
"This is a bad choice. Jurassic World was terribly directed and written," said another.
@colintrevorrow I cannot begin to tell you how naive & wrong it is. I have all the desire in the world. I would kill to make a blockbuster.— Tanya Wexler (@TanyaWexler)
