DO YOU have an historic ancestor buried in the Hawkesbury, whose headstone needs renovation?
Come to an information session on how you can apply for half the cost of it under Council’s Local Heritage Incentive Fund 2015/2016 for minor maintenance works to cemetery monuments.
Anyone planning to undertake works to a cemetery monument with heritage associations in the Hawkesbury can apply, which provides dollar for dollar grant funding of up to $2000 for minor conservation works to cemetery monuments.
It is jointly funded by Hawkesbury Council and the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage.
Mayor Kim Ford said “some of the oldest cemeteries in this country are right here in the Hawkesbury. The Local Heritage Incentive Fund is a wonderful way of supporting this history".
“Last year the fund was used to support minor works on slab barns and Council had a fantastic response from the community. There were some outstanding results with the individual projects stabilising and protecting barns with relatively small financial outlay on the applicant’s part.’’
The information session will be held on Wednesday, August 5 at Council‘s Administration Building, 366 George Street, Windsor from 6.30pm and 8pm. For further information or to register for the session, visit Council’s website www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au or call Council’s customer service staff on 4560 4444.
