Dating rules look like they're changing, but not as fast as some may think.
Dating site RSVP has just released a report of dating trends, gleaned from a Nielsen poll of more than 3000 respondents, and it found a third of single women will still wait to be asked out.
Men seem more modern (or is it just more eager?), with 77 per cent saying the man or the woman could initiate a date.
RSVP psychologist John Aiken said "the key thing to remember is that everyone is vulnerable when they put themselves out there. No-one likes rejection but if you stand at the sidelines, you're likely to have much less dating success".
The other minefield addressed in the RSVP report was who should pay on a first date. Nearly 30 per cent of singles, men and women, believe whoever initiates the date should pay, while 48 per cent think the cost should be shared.
