This Sunday, Rouse Hill House is offering history and historic food in one delightful event.
Its Autumn Harvest food festival on May 31 is on from 9am-2pm in the grounds of the historic property. There'll be 20 food producers with stalls, all selling products that would have been in colonial kitchens, such as smoked foods, historic varieties of vegetables, and dairy and baked goods.
Take a tour of the historic Rouse Hill House, its fascinating outbuildings and paddocks. Pack a picnic rug and pick and choose a delightful lunch from the food vendors.
You can also meet the food producers, tour the Rouse family's farmhouse and listen to talks by farmers, food writers, and historians like colonial gastronomer Jacqui Newling and cheesemaker Kristen Allan.
Rouse Hill House is a 19th century sandstone house preserved in the state it was when left by the Rouse family which lived in it for many generations.
