A new Hawkesbury social club has the motto ‘retire from work, not from life’ and the huge turnout at its first meeting on May 22 shows it’s off to a flying start.
The next meeting is Wednesday, June 3 and you’re invited.
The new Windsor Probus Club is for retirees and semi-retirees and its set up was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Windsor.
Friendship and fun are its core values which is why the Probus clubs as a group are described as ‘‘wildly successful’’ by member Rob Stalley — their collective membership is now more than 150,000 active members.
All activities are initiated by members themselves so meetings stay meaningful, relevant, interesting and fun. At the start up meeting attendees elected Jenny Langford as foundation president, Marina Ferns as vice president, Bob Peirce as treasurer and Kerry Becroft as secretary.
There’s a one-off joining fee of $30 and an annual fee of $50. Meetings will be held on the first Wednesday of the month at 9.30 for 10am at Windsor Golf Club, McQuade Avenue, South Windsor.
‘‘We warmly encourage you to come along for friendship, fellowship and fun — lots of fun!’’ Mr Stalley said.
