Bring your picnic blankets, your family and your furry friends along to the 'Picnic for the Poundies' this Sunday at the Governor Phillip Park in Windsor to support a good cause.
The event aims to raise money for the volunteers at the 'Friends of Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter' who go above and beyond to care for and re-home the dogs and cats at the Hawkesbury Pound.
Organiser of the fundraiser Amie Burchell, 24, is a volunteer for the shelter and an animal lover who is passionate about donating money to the animals that need it most.
The Glossodia resident said the volunteers at the shelter do so much to save all the animals and could always use a little more funding.
"All the money raised from the day will go to saving and desexing animals as well as subsidising adoption fees," Ms Burchell said.
"We would love to get the community supporting this cause because we all love our animals in the Hawkesbury. There will be two groomers doing ears cleaning, nail clipping, feet shaving, hygiene shaving and tail dyeing."
Kurrajong resident Louise Chillmaid,16, along with other animal lovers are also taking part in making the event a success.
The jam packed day will include a sausage sizzle, great prizes to win, best dressed dog competition, cookies and cupcake stall, face painting, doggy groomer and live music.
The event will run from 10am to 3pm.
Donations of prizes are welcome.
