Hot country trio Jetty Road will be heading north of the border later this month to celebrate the release of their fifth album, Hearts on Fire.
The celebrated Victorians, who boast a pair of Golden Guitars and a host of other accolades, have spent more than a decade refining their sound and have become one of Australia’s premier practitioners of contemporary country music of substance.
The band has recently signed to record label Maven and this time around will have their new album distributed through Sony Music Australia.
Hearts on Fire will be released on May 29 and the following night (May 30) they will play their only show for western Sydney-based fans at Katoomba’s Hotel Gearin.
Jetty Road comprises twin sisters Lee and Paula Bowman and Julian Sammut.
The new release is their first as a trio, after the departure of fellow founding member Simon Ross. It is also their first release as signed artists.
‘‘We’re absolutely thrilled to be joining the family at Maven and Sony Music,’’ said Julian. ‘‘It’s been an exciting past five months and this is just the icing on the cake.’’
The first single from the 10-track new release, What We Did Last Night, went to the top of the country charts around Australia, picking up from where they left off with the the sensational Far Away Places album.
‘‘It feels great to be back with new music again,’’ said Lee. ‘‘It’s been a while since our last release and we’ve missed our country music family like crazy, so the response to the new single makes the wait all worthwhile.’’
The trio penned each of the new tracks and once again opted to record in Canada with producer Paul Shatto.
They spent a month (November 2014) living and working in the Calgary studio.
Paula described the recording process as: ‘‘the most intense musical experience the band has ever had’’.
The new music sees the band blend a range of new styles with the trademark Jetty Road sound that has seen them attract fans the world-over.
‘‘This album has been a really deep and spiritual process for us and we really cannot wait to share it,’’ said Lee.
Paula said she viewed the album as a real step forward in what has already been an amazing journey.
‘‘We all share a vision for Jetty Road and the new album and that’s really exciting,’’ she said.
