Richmond Club received a Highly Commended trophy in the Welfare and Social Inclusion category of the 2015 Clubs & Community Awards for its commitment to supporting the community with aged care.
Judges at the May 8 event said Richmond Club’s Hawkesbury Living Cameron Cottage was a great example of a club initiative that had gone above and beyond the norm.
Cameron Cottage is a specialised memory care wing for people who suffer from dementia and is the first of its kind in the Hawkesbury.
The cottage is just one way in which the Richmond Club supports senior Australians suffering from dementia.
ClubsNSW CEO Anthony Ball congratulated both Blacktown Workers, who took out the top award in the category, and Richmond Club for its efforts.
“Blacktown Workers Club and the Richmond Club managed to beat a record number of entries, cementing them as key pillars in their local communities,” he said. “Richmond Club is a great example of when clubs step up and provide much-needed services like aged care to their local area.”
