Struggling to find a gift for mum as Mother's Day draws nearer? Sexyland has the answer.
The shop for saucy lingerie and adult toys has been advertising for Mother's Day. It may be jarring to think of your mother in the kinds of situations Sexyland's products cater for but, after all, that's how you got here in the first place.
The ad comes with the disclaimer that it's pitched at people buying for a "friend, partner or lover".
But Michelle Temminghoff, owner of adult store Passionfrui,t says she has seen parents shopping with their adult children - mothers with daughters, usually, but sometimes with sons.
"Adult children, they do," she said. "They're often more open families and they obviously talk about these things."
She said the saucy gifts, rather comfortingly, come from the partners. Fathers might "pick up the flowers and then something a little special for the side", she said.
"Often it's not a toy, because that can be a bit too overt for a mum. Often something that's a little bit sensual rather than sexual; something that shows he still thinks she's a hot mum."
Better get it right fellas. According to cheaters website AshleyMadison.com, the day after Mother's Day is one of the biggest sign-up days of ther year. Last year, the site's founder Noel Biderman said the increase was tied up in feelings that expectations had not been met.
"While Mother's Day might not have the implicit romance factor of Valentine's Day or an anniversary, it's a holiday that compels women to reflect on their relationships," he said.
"They expect to be recognized for all their hard work throughout the year, whether it's with a relaxing afternoon at the spa, or bringing some much needed romance to the bedroom. When expectations aren't met, it can often be the last straw to trigger an affair."
