WILLBEFORCE junior tennis player Taylah Lawless has made the state squad, which will travel to Tasmania in October to play against some of the best junior tennis players in Australia.
Lawless, 11, found out on Thursday she would join six other junior tennis players on the trip to Tasmania.
Lawless spent most of last week playing at the Primary School Sports Association Tennis Championships at Rockdale, where her form was good enough to be picked for the team.
Lawless said she was very excited by the news, and had been trying to crack into the team for a number of years.
“I practice about three days a week but I have tournaments on the weekend,” she said.
“I love playing tennis and I practice a lot to improve my game.”
Lawless practices at the Nepean Tennis Club once a week, but also makes the trip to Homebush with her grandfather twice a week for academy practice.
Lawless said her favourite player was Serena Williams, but she did not want to model her game on the superstar.
“She is amazing, she is just really strong, the best player who has ever lived but I want to be the next me, I want to be myself.”
