More than 36 motorists have been killed on Hawkesbury roads from 2009 to 2013 and 1244 have been injured according to the Centre For Road Safety.
Hawkesbury Highway Patrol are on a mission to stop families and friends from losing their loved ones on NSW roads through a 'Young Driver Awareness Program' run by experienced officers.
The free program will be held at Windsor Police Station on Saturday, May 16 and aims to show young people what can and does happen every day on the roads.
Starting at 7pm, the presentation will run for two hours with realistic and confronting video reenactments of crashes created by the Victorian Transport Accident Commission.
Fifteen year old children must turn 16 before January 1, 2016.
The program has been running for two years with nearly 200 Hawkesbury young drivers and their parents participating.
Positions on the program are limited.
