HAWKESBURY City Football Club drew 2-2 with Dulwich Hill Football Club at the weekend after a tough game in the State League 1 competition.
Hawkesbury surrendered a one goal lead late in the game, and could not strike back against Dulwich to secure a win.
Dulwich scored first, and but Hawkesbury City struck back and took the lead through two goals from Seb Comacho, before surrendering their lead with about 10 minutes to go.
Coach Dean Bertenshaw said his team’s depth was tested, with seven regular players out of the side.
“We gave a few boys a chance and they did well,” he said.
Bertenshaw said his team struggled to find its rhythm at times, something he attributed to the interruptions to the training and games schedule.
“We haven’t had a training session on our game for three or four weeks now,” he said.
“We’ve had a few sessions or a video session but not our regular Monday and Wednesday training and it will be good to get a bit more of that.”
Wednesday’s Football Federation Australia Cup match will go ahead as it has been moved to a synthetic field at Valentine Park.
Bertenshaw said the team would welcome back five players who missed the clash against Dulwich at the weekend for the FFA Cup match.
Following Wednesday’s match, the team will play again on Saturday against Balmain Tigers in State League 1.
The Tigers are sixth on the ladder with two wins and four losses, and Bertenshaw said he was expecting them to be hard to beat.
Hawkesbury City are in last place, although have only played four rounds rather than six like most clubs, because games have had to be rescheduled because of weather.
