Endeavour Energy issued a statement earlier tonight on current power outages due to the strong winds and heavy rain which have swept across the state.
It reports the work is continuing to restore power to 3,200 customers in areas including Kurrajong, Lower Macdonald, Riverstone, Oakville, Maraylya and Box Hill.
The company reports that much of today's focus was repairing the extensive damage caused by fallen trees, requiring many hours of work to cut trees away and rebuild the network before power restoration.
In areas around the Hawkesbury and Colo Rivers, localised flooding has restricted access to faults sites to allow for the repair work.
''While good progress has been made throughout today, there will regrettably be customers without power tonight. These customers will typically be in outlying areas or have damage to their service line that we have been unable to repair up till now,'' the official statement said.
''From tomorrow morning, all available crews from Kings Park, Parramatta, Penrith, Windsor, Katoomba and Bowenfels will commence work in the Hills and Hawkesbury districts to complete the restoration effort.''
Endeavour saus that routine maintenance planned for tomorrow has been cancelled to free up its resources for the urgent works.
