A calf was taken to a specialist vet linked to Sydney University after someone had launched an arrow into it’s shoulder on Sunday at the University of Western Sydney Richmond campus.
On the early hours of Sunday morning, a female motorist passing by on Richmond Road, noticed a distressed calf alongside its mother limping with an arrow coming out of the shoulder.
Police and the RSPCA were contacted by the woman after she noticed it was in pain.
The calf was sedated by RSPCA specialist Skye Adam and was transported to a vet for appropriate treatment.
It has since received veterinary care and is recovering.
The calf is back with its mother in a holding pen and under observation at the campus.
The university released a statement stating ‘it is appalled’ by the arrow attack on the calf over the weekend.
‘‘The campus conducts frequent security patrols and we are working closely with the police to further investigate.’’
Police spoke to the security on the university campus and investigations are to be continued.
