Hawkesbury primary schools are making art from used or recycled material in council’s Waste 2 Art Competition.
It will be held at Hawkesbury Library at 300 George Street, Windsor and the winning artworks will receive free art classes and vouchers for supplies.
To kick off National Recycling Week, Council will host a display on Saturday, November 8 at Riverview Shopping Centre, Windsor, offering information and giveaways to residents, with a focus on home composting.
Planet Ark has also released the report The Seven Secrets of Successful Recyclers which debunks many myths about recycling and explains at least one mistake is made by 50 per cent of people when putting their bins out.
Research suggests that incorrect recycling or contamination in recycling bins arises from genuine misunderstanding about what is required. One common misconception is that aerosol cans will explode in the bin, which is wrong — they can be recycled once empty.
