THE Australian PGA Seniors Championship will be played for the second year at Richmond Golf Club from October 29 to November 1.
The competitors are chasing $70,000 in prize money.
‘‘We are pleased to be returning to the Richmond Golf Club for one of the most prestigious events on the E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour,” PGA chief executive Brian Thorburn said.
‘‘The 2013 Australian PGA Seniors Championship was a resounding success and we look forward to working with Richmond Golf Club to ensure 2014 is another high quality tournament.’’
The championship has been played for 28 years.
Defending champion Daryl Purchase is expected to return, along with Australian greats such as Rodger Davis, Mike Harwood and Mike Clayton.
‘‘Richmond Golf Club, together with the entire Hawkesbury region, is very excited to again play host to the championship,’’ general manager Brenden Ellam said.
‘‘The great thing about the Legends Tour is that they go above and beyond when interacting with the spectators which provides an exciting fan experience.’’
Last year’s event allowed the Hawkesbury community the opportunity to see some of the game’s icons, both past and present.
The honour roll of the Australian PGA Seniors Championship includes Australia’s Peter Senior, Peter Fowler and Mike Harwood and the United States’ Lee Trevino and Tom Purtzer.
This year’s event starts on October 29 with a volunteers’ Pro Am and a sponsors’ pro am.
October 30 sees round one of the championship; October 31, round two; with both rounds open to members and guests.
The championship’s final round is on November 1, with the top 50 seeded players competing for the prize.
It is restricted to professionals but spectators are welcome.
