Hawkesbury residents passionate about soil are invited to attend a two-day masterclass from October 8-9, to further understand the concepts, theories and latest research on soil biology.
Held at the University of Western Sydney (UWS) Hawkesbury campus, the masterclass will provide insights into how soil biology can be managed to improve nutrient availability and carbon storage as well as reduce pest and disease susceptibility.
Leading researchers and professional will lead the masterclass through research, applied projects, concepts and tools to broaden current understanding to further research.
Farmers will learn how new soil biology tools and practices can be applied to their farms.
Better techniques for soil health will improve production and also reduce the demand for inputs such as water and fertiliser.
The masterclass is also an opportunity for farmers and researchers to share their insights and experiences from the farm and the lab.
Participants will learn how new soil biology tools and practices which can be applied to current situations as well as improve research and practitioner networks.
The masterclass will be held from 9.30am to 4.30pm on both days at the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment, UWS Hawkesbury.
