They took on the challenge of playing at Future Music Festival back in March but now they are up for something bigger.
DJ duo Front to Back, Benjamin Hayes (Windsor Downs) and Cheyne Egelton (St Clair), will be taking the stage at this year’s Defqon.1 event next Saturday, September 20.
The hardcore festival that has been held at the Penrith Regatta Centre for the last five years attracts more than 20,000 party-goers each year.
Front to Back have been DJing together for two years and have gone from playing at house parties to popular night clubs and now to the most popular festivals that park themselves in Sydney each year.
“Front to Back have been very lucky to play at many different venues and some awesome events,” Cheyne said. “We have supported so many crazy acts but the stand outs would have to be supporting Zeds Dead, UZ at the Hifi and of course Disclosure,” he said.
The duo said being asked to be a part of this year’s Defqon.1 line-up was unbelievable and something they had never imagined. “Being asked to play was awesome,” Cheyne said. “It ticks off another dream on our imaginary boxes.’’
For Ben, playing at Defqon.1 has been something he has worked towards doing since he was still at school.
“This is honestly a dream come true for me, I have always wanted to do this,” he said.
Though the boys have now reached Defqon, they still have a challenge ahead of them – performing to a different crowd than they are used to.
But for Ben, he is returning to where it all began.
“All through my teen years I attended raves and underground dance parties aspiring to become a hardstyle DJ...but Cheyne and I are able to adapt to any genre, and I know I will be in my element on the day.’’
