Rotary Club of Kurrajong North Richmond is holding its Great Rotary Duck Race at Penrith Whitewater Stadium on September 13.
The race takes place on the whitewater course at 1.30pm.
Everyone can watch thousands of plastic ducks take to the rapids.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third past the finish line.
The race is organised by the Rotary Club of Kurrajong North Richmond and all proceeds go to charity.
Ducks can be purchased on the day.
The race coincides with Penrith Whitewater's free Come and Try Kayaking day on the lake for those interested in trying out the sport.
Participation will be free of charge and will be offered on a first in, first served basis.
There is no need to book, just turn up on the day with secure footwear and gear to get wet in.
Penrith Whitewater's Marketing Manager, Simonetta Lo Po’ said "Kayaking is great fun and we would like to invite the local community to try it for themselves.
Activities will take place under the friendly guidance of qualified Penrith Whitewater instructors.
If you are curious about the sport of kayaking, this is a great opportunity to give it a try.”
A variety of equipment will be available to try and activities will take place between 10am and 3pm on the warm-up lake located between the rowing course and the whitewater course.
