The Hills Council is celebrating Christmas in style this year.
The council resolved last meeting to spend $464,672 over three years on a Christmas light-and-sound show for Main Street.
Conservative estimates suggest it could provide a $750,000 boost to the local economy.
In the council report (see Item-11) it says ChasClarkson won the tender for the Sydney Hills Christmas Light and Sound Spectacular, which is inspired by the Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas.

The Hills version would combine a visual lights show with audio recordings of student performances from local music schools.
A 40 metre x 10 metre LED light canopy would be installed on Main Street during December.
It would be turned on at 8pm daily and the street closed for a few hours, so residents and visitors can walk under the canopy and enjoy the show and atmosphere.
Former mayor Michelle Byrne said "this is a unique experience that won't be found anywhere else in Sydney".
But while Labor councillor Ryan Tracey insists he's not a grinch, he voted against the city's planned spectacular.

"I know it helps to get people into the shire — but flag it," Cr Tracey said.

Cr Tracey felt some residents might think spending half a million dollars on one event was too much, and was disappointed councillors got three days to look over the proposal.
Cr Ray Harty said it was brought to them two years ago under the guise of public criticism of the council for not putting up Christmas decorations.
The council responded with some decorations last year.
"What's before us tonight is a further addition to that," Cr Harty said.
"It's also about celebrating something with the community [and] waking up the Main Street."
Cr Mike Thomas said council should seek sponsorship from Main Street businesses, as they would benefit.
